Member Gallery: Leslie Lambert
Much of Leslie’s current work is about the multiplicity of emotions that one experiences while trying to accomplish a shared goal. There is frustration, anger and powerlessness, yet hope, renewed energy and new vision remains, although tenuously grasped at times. Her paintings delve into the duality of conflicting impulses and fast moving ideas. Within a pattern of architectural structure, and often in a space ripe with tension, the opposing principles of construction/destruction, decision/indecision, functional/dysfunctional, and harmony/chaos are explored. Leslie utilizes mainly watercolor pigment, and sometimes a little charcoal, in her work.Leslie has a BFA in Drawing from Arizona State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and concurrently pursued an undeclared minor in the fiber arts of weaving and surface design. For several years, creating art took a back seat to selling art in galleries in Scottsdale, Arizona. A move to California and reconnecting with watercolor painting at her children’s Waldorf School, led to her current artwork. Since 1997, Lambert has been exhibiting her paintings locally. She has served as the Co-Chairman of Exhibitions for the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society since 2004 .
