Artist's Statement
I choose from many different subjects, from still life to landscapes to animals to flowers. While I sometimes paint for realism, I often tend to abstract my images. I look for the main shapes and exaggerate and emphasize. I enjoy bold colors against dark to bring excitement throughout my paintings.
I work mostly in watercolor and often tend to paint fairly large using large brushes and making quite a mess. Ive been influenced by many painters including Miles Batt, Kandinsky and Mondrian to name a few. Ive studied with some California artists such as Amy Konsterlie and Mike Bailey and often take workshops to explore new techniques and keep learning and experimenting.
