Workshops and Demonstrations
SCVWS sponsors workshops and demonstrations throughout the year, and for several years in advance. We welcome members and non-members to participate. For more information about any workshop, contact the person named with the workshop or send an email to

Workshop hours are 9:00am - 4:00pm daily, with the exception of Mike Bailey's Watercolor Beyond the Obvious, which runs 9:00am - 12:30pm on Mondays for 10 weeks.
Demonstrations are 1:30pm - 4:00pm.
After ten dedicated weeks learning and applying the elements and principles of fine art to twenty full sheet paintings, the happy students of Mike Bailey's Watercolor Beyond the Obvious Class pause for a photo and celebration at the conclusion of the workshop.
Both workshops and demonstrations are held in the Historic Hoover Theatre building, San Jose, unless otherwise noted. Demonstrations are free and open to the public. Workshop signup is on a first come, first served basis.
The painting at the right of the Hoover Theatre was created by Lucy Breeden during the Ken Hosmer workshop in 2013. She used techniques she learned in the workshop.
Registering for workshops
We prefer you register on line. However, if you prefer, you can mail in the printed Workshop Registration Form (download it below.)
If you are not a member you can register by clicking the signup buttons on the 2013 workshops page. Members should register from the member home page in order to get the cheaper member price.
Up until 60 days before a workshop you can secure a place by paying a deposit of $75 (members) or $108 (non-members.) After that you will need to pay the full amount, which includes an administrative fee of $33 for non-members. Please review the Workshop Refund Policy (below) before registering for a workshop.
NOTE: There is NO registration or waiting list for any workshop prior to its appearance on the registration form.
