Fall Serenity

I discovered the joy of drawing and painting at an early age. Celebrating my passion for art, my parents enrolled me in Donetsk Art School which occupied me during my school years.  However, when I immigrated to the United States and it was time to select a college degree, I chose Biochemistry over art  because I thought it was more practical choice for a career path at that time. Still, art continued to be an important part of my life: during my first year in college I supported myself by painting canvases and decorating windows for a small embroidery store in Manhattan. Later, despite of  working in a science field I have never stopped painting and learning new creative techniques and media.

After sharing my art work on Instagram I’ve got people asking me if I’d be willing to do commissions. That was the moment when I realized that my art is appreciated and I can transform my lifelong passion into my career. So, in 2019 I established myself as an artist and I found it extremely rewarding by the end of the day to know that I could contribute to the world and community around me by doing something unique. My life experience helped me realize how much I want to not just create but also help and enable people to follow their dreams.

I often combine traditional, representational painting with new approaches to color and shape, and ways of perceiving motifs. I enjoy achieving boldness and freedom in my art works by breaking the rules of conventional painting or drawing. My experience in science has refined into a strong reception to innovations and experiment with different media. Every painting is an exploration for me and I am sharpening my skills and perception with each one. I believe that harmony consists of contrasting elements. That is why I combine shiny acrylic gold with watercolor on matte cotton paper, warm and cold colors, ‘wet on wet’ and ‘dry brush’ techniques and so on. I feel, these variety of elements contribute to overall unity and harmony. Living in California, where the nature is beautiful, I find inspiration in its landscapes, flowers, and city scenes. My paintings are my little tribute to the world around me and I look forward to my continuing journey, as well as my destination.
