The Santa Clara Watercolor Society welcomes members and non-members at our workshops. Workshops are 9:00am - 4:00pm daily, with the exception of Mike Bailey's Watercolor Beyond the Obvious class which is 9:00am - 12:30pm. All workshops and demos are held in the Historic Hoover Theatre, 1635 Park Ave., San Jose, CA,  unless otherwise noted.

An afternoon of fun with Daniel Smith Watercolors

Join us for a fun afternoon with DANIEL SMITH watercolor sales representative, Scott Stevenson.  
 
Ever wonder about Quinacridone pigments, or where in the world the color Serpentine comes from, or how a color gets its name or how DANIEL SMITH tests pigments for lightfastness?  This is your chance to get “your” questions answered directly from Scott.  You will hear about the history of DANIEL SMITH and the development of their line of products.  
 
In addition, You will see firsthand lab paint outs, minerals used to manufacture colors in the PrimaTek line, with an overview of the complete DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Products.  And for the finale....... you get to put paint to paper!!!

We will have multiple paint "stations" for you to sample the DANIEL SMITH watercolor paints and possibly some freebies too.  All items supplied by DANIEL SMITH.

Students will learn Frank's method of painting shapes large and loose, often disregarding fine detail. Using Frank’s sketches that he has done while traveling in California, each day you will paint a different place, such as Yosemite, then Mendocino for country, San Francisco for City scenes and San Diego/Newport Beach for the beach scenes. Frank will leave it up to the students to decide on the image to paint each day.
