Current SCVWS Workshops and Demonstrations

The Santa Clara Watercolor Society welcomes members and non-members at our workshops. Workshops are 9:00am - 4:00pm daily, with the exception of Mike Bailey's Watercolor Beyond the Obvious class which is 9:00am - 12:30pm. All workshops and demos are held in the Historic Hoover Theatre, 1635 Park Ave., San Jose, CA,  unless otherwise noted.

Under each workshop there is a second page called "More about the workshop."  Class itinerary, Artist Bio, Materials List and more info regarding the workshop is listed there.  If you still have questions, please send email to workshops@scvws.org.  Cancellations and Refunds

 People are not authorized to fill their own slot.  Please contact the Workshop Director or the Registrar if you know of someone who would like to take your place in the workshop.  

SCVWS reserves the right to cancel workshops due to insufficient enrollment or other reasons beyond our control.  If a workshop is cancelled by SCVWS, registrants will receive a full refund.

Learn how to paint with fluidity in watercolor.  Carol will demonstrate technique of wet, loose watercolor through demonstration.  Carol will provide a tutorial that everyone can follow. The step-by-step instruction will allow ample time to observe paint application and then individual painting. A finished painting will be completed each day.
Carol will discuss color, water, design, and value. The brilliance of color and the purity of paint application will be emphasized.

Painting Vibrant California Scenes

Painting Vibrant California Scenes

Students will learn Frank's method of painting shapes large and loose, often disregarding fine detail. Using Frank’s sketches that he has done while traveling in California, each day you will paint a different place, such as Yosemite, then Mendocino for country, San Francisco for City scenes and San Diego/Newport Beach for the beach scenes. Frank will leave it up to the students to decide on the image to paint each day.
