2022 Award Winners |
1st Place ($700) Wolfy Juror comments: I felt that the painting tells a good story, with a poignant expression. The hand is beautifully rendered. There is a variety of edges, shapes & colors. A beautiful painting overall. |
2nd Place ($500) I Painted My Pants Juror Comments: This is a very unique painting with an interesting message. Strong lettering in the center pulls the eye away from the items at the corners and the composition is very well designed. The use of texture and unusual items represent a personal statement, rather than just a copy. Very well done. |
3rd Place ($300) Pineapple #9 Juror Comments: I was drawn to the very beautiful mark making which is very personal in the painting. I was also surprised to be drawn to a painting of a pineapple, but I was. The design & composition was excellent. The use of the dark & light on each side of the painting really made a simple pineapple really interesting. Good job. |
Honorable Mention #1 Cactus Flower Juror Comments: This image was beautifully painted. I liked the way the color in the painting moved around. The use of soft and hard edges really elevates this painting. Lovely! |
Honorable Mention #2 ($100) Sentinel Juror Comments: The light and simplicity of the background is really striking. The limited color palette used enhanced the color choices in the painting. I really enjoyed it. |
Honorable Mention #3 ($100) Live Longer Better Juror Comment: For a smaller painting, the subject matter really draws you in to linger a bit. Really beautifully painted. |
2022 Special Awards |
Emerging Artist ($50) Galactic Rose Juror comment: The artist used a limited palette in the background to great effect to showcase a white flower. Painting a big and bold image shows a level of confidence in an emerging artist. I wish there were a bit more lost edges on the flower, but overall the effect is stunning. Wonderful. |
Exhibit's Award ($50) Autumn Light Juror comment: This is a lovely painting. There is a confidence in this image and the light coming through the trees is really striking. Overall a very beautiful painting. |
Masterful Technique ($50) Paris Cafe Juror comment: This artist has mastered their technique in painting in a realistic style. The leather and the fabric marks are simply amazing. The attention to detail is powerful. Well done. |
President's Award ($100) Love Me Juror comment: The softness of this painting is interesting and uses a different perspective to create interest. The details of fuzzy softness in the fur contrast the crispness in rendering the eyes to give an 80/20 texture. Beautifully painted. |
